Assam: CM Flags Off Several Projects in Tamulpur

TAMULPUR: Himanta Biswa Sarma today visited the newly created Tamulpur District of the state of Assam and announced several projects for the development of the region.

The first and possibly the most important of the projects is the proposed medical college and hospital at Kachubari in the district. Speaking on the ground breaking event for this project, the CM told that this project will incur a cost of Rs 586 Cr. Once completed, this project will empower the people of the region and make sure that they do not have to visit Guwahati for their medical needs.

The next important part of the occasion was the laying of foundation stones for a mini stadium to be constructed in the new district to encourage the sports persons from that region. After that, the foundations of a new bridge on the Kumarikata-Nagrijuli road and the upgradation of the Kumarikata-Nayabasti road were also undertaken. He also announced two new bridges on the Pagladia river, nine Adarsh Anganwadi Centers and Adarsh Vidyalayas at Tamulpur and Nagrijuli.

He also thanked the central government for enabling the development across the state. Mentioning about developing Tamulpur into a fully-fledged district with all necessary departments and offices, he said that 6000 new families will be covered under the Arunodoi Scheme of the state and 7000 new families of the region will be given free ration cards.

The CM also announced the development of the Kumarikata-Kauli-Guabari road for better communication and transportation. It is expected to help several villages in the region in terms of agriculture, education, health and commerce.

Apart from helping with infrastructure development, these new bridges and road projects are expected to help people and avoid disruption of communication during the monsoon season. Floods are known to cause considerable damage in the region every year.
